COOKIE POLICY

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, what types are used on the DAMO GmbH website, for what purposes, and how you can manage your preferences. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on the user's device (computer, tablet, mobile phone) when they visit it. They allow the website to recognise the device on subsequent visits and remember certain preferences or actions. In addition to cookies, similar technologies such as tracking pixels (beacons), local storage (localStorage) and device fingerprinting may be used for equivalent purposes.

2. Applicable Legal Framework

In Switzerland, the use of cookies is primarily governed by:

 

  • The Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP, revised 2023), which requires information to be provided about the processing of personal data and grants a right to object.

  • Article 45c of the Telecommunications Act (TCA), which requires operators to inform users about the use of non-essential cookies and to offer them a refusal mechanism (opt-out).

  • The Guidelines of the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) on personalisation and advertising (updated 2025).

3. Categories of Cookies Used

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the technical operation of the website. They do not require consent as they are proportionate to the service requested and limited to what is strictly necessary:

  • Purpose: Keeps the user session active during navigation

  • Duration: Session (deleted when the browser is closed)

2. CSRF cookie

  • Provider: DAMO GmbH

  • Type: Security

  • Purpose: Protection against Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks

  • Duration: Session

3. Language cookie

  • Provider: DAMO GmbH

  • Type: Preference

  • Purpose: Remembers the language selected by the user

  • Duration: 1 year

3.2 Analytics and Statistics Cookies

These cookies allow us to understand how users interact with the website, improve its performance and detect potential errors. They involve the processing of personal data (anonymised IP address, browsing behaviour) and therefore require that users be offered the option to reject them:

  • Type: Analytics

  • Purpose: Distinguish unique users, measure page views, session duration and traffic sources. IP anonymisation enabled.

  • Duration:

    • _ga: 2 years

    • _ga_XXXX: 13 months
       

Legal basis: Legitimate interest of DAMO GmbH in improving the service (Art. 31 revFADP), with a guaranteed right to object via the cookie banner.

3.3 Marketing and Advertising Cookies

These cookies track browsing behaviour to display personalised advertisements and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. They involve more extensive data processing (cross-site tracking, user profiling) and, in accordance with the FDPIC Guidelines 2025, may require explicit consent (opt-in) when the profile poses a high risk:

  • Type: Advertising

  • Purpose: Conversion tracking, remarketing on Facebook and Instagram, creation of lookalike audiences.

  • Duration:

    • _fbp: 3 months

    • _fbc: up to 2 years

 

  • Provider: Google Ads Remarketing / LLC, USA

  • Type: Advertising

  • Purpose: Conversion tracking and remarketing across the Google network. Allows ads to be shown to users who have already visited the site.

  • Duration: Up to 540 days

Legal basis: User consent (opt-in via the cookie banner) when the profile generated involves cross-site tracking or high-risk profiling, in accordance with the FDPIC Guidelines 2025.

4. Cookie Consent Banner

In compliance with the revFADP and Art. 45c TCA, DAMO GmbH is implementing a Cookie Consent Management Platform (CMP) that:

 

  • Is displayed to the user on their first visit, before any non-essential cookies are activated.

  • Offers clear and accessible options to 'Accept', 'Reject' or 'Customise' cookie categories, with equal visual prominence for the accept and reject buttons.

  • Provides transparent information about each cookie category and its purpose.

  • Does not activate non-essential cookies until the user has given consent or had the opportunity to reject them.

  • Allows the user to modify their preferences at any time via the 'Manage cookies' link available in the website footer.

  • Records consent in an auditable manner (date, time, version of the policy accepted).

 

NOTE: The consent banner is currently being implemented. In the meantime, a restrictive configuration has been adopted that does not activate marketing or analytics cookies until the appropriate management system is in place.

5. How to Manage or Delete Cookies

In addition to the cookie management panel on our website, you can control and delete cookies directly through your browser:

 

  • Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data.

  • Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data.

  • Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data.

  • Microsoft Edge: Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Cookies.

 

Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the website. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be disabled without compromising the operation of the service.

6. International Data Transfers via Cookies

The use of Google cookies (Analytics, Ads, Maps) and Meta Pixel involves the transfer of data to the United States. These transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) adopted by the European Commission and recognised under Swiss regulations, ensuring an adequate level of protection. 7. Updates to the Cookie Policy

DAMO GmbH will review and update this Cookie Policy in the event of legislative changes, modifications to the tools used, or updates to the FDPIC Guidelines. The current version will always be available on the website. If the changes are significant, users will be notified via the consent banner or by email where possible.
